The game had loads of attraction going into it. First, the headliner topic of Wayne Rooney, Man Utd’s record goals scorer return to the Theatre of Dreams, a place he called home meritoriously for 13 years, secondly, £75 million pounds Romelu Lukaka, his replacement was meeting his former  team mates  since he moved on earlier in the summer, thirdly, Everton’s  dodgy form, and fourthly, some players in the contest had past affiliations with both clubs.

Aside Antonio Valencia’s first half 4th mins wonder strike Manchester United were unconvincing for most part of the half and atimes during the fiesty contest it looked like Man Utd were returning to their inglorious last season’ absymal self. Had it not been for the heroics of de Gea it would have been a different story in the first half. Lukaku however did missed a sitter in the half after taking  Williams to  the cleaners he failed to direct his shot on goal.

Second half began with Everton showing more intensity which was nearly rewarded after                  Rooney bombed into the Utd penalty area earlier in the half only for de Gea for the umpteenth time to come to Utd’  rescue.

As the game panned on and remained dangerously at 1 nil, Utd fans became  apprehensive  knowing that their team were scathed in the same scenerio many times last season and urgently  needed a  second goal for security.

The second goal eventually came from Mikhytaryan, third by Lukaku, and even a fourth from  the spot by substitute, Martial. Not before Mourinho introduced Herrera, Lingard, and Anthony Martial, justifying the notion that Utd has a formidable bench that can do the job just in case the first 11 are unable. Moreso, Koeman naively taking off Gueye who was imperious in Everton’s midfield aided Utd’ goals rush.

Naivety they say is very entertaining. Koeman was naive in taking off Gueye, Rooney he bundled off because he was no longer having an effect but bringing on 3 attackers while leaving his middle exposed  against this Utd team was a mistake and it cost them the opportunity of equalizing the game.

Meanwhile the inform Utd are joint table toppers with their city rivals.
