David Wagner has been named the August manager of the month, despite Mourinho’s flawless start to the season.
The Manchester United boss has guided his side to three wins out of three so far, without conceding a single goal.
But he has been pipped by Terriers chief David Wagner, whose side have remarkably impressed since their promotion to the Premier League.
Huddersfield opened their campaign with an impressive win at Crystal Palace followed by a home victory over Newcastle. They then played a goalless draw with Southampton just before the international break and just like Mourinho’s United have kept three clean sheets.
Mourinho who has previously won the award just THREE times during his Premier League career – the last was in March 2007, despite his side being top of the league from the first week to the last in 2014/15 season, he failed to win the prize.
United will hope to make it four wins out of four at Stoke this weekend and also continue to keep a clean sheet while Huddersfield take on West Ham on Monday.
Wagner said “It’s an honour for me but I’d like to take this award for the whole club, especially my players!”
“I’d hoped that we would start well but I didn’t expect it! It’s only the start and now we need to be focused for the next one.”
